Northridge Middle School Library


The Northridge Middle School Library strives:
- to support students as they engage in personal and academic explorations by offering a diverse collection of multimedia that supplements curriculum, includes topics of interest, are culturally relevant, and span appropriate lexile levels.
- to support the development of informational and digital literacy, inquiry and research, communication, collaboration and critical thinking and creativity by working collaboratively with teachers to teach lessons utilizing multimedia and technology based on the CA Model Library Standards.
- to foster self-sufficiency in students to determine information needed; access information; assess the credibility, relevancy, accuracy of information; synthesize information from a variety of sources; create products, solve a problem or use information effectively and purposefully.
- to foster a love of reading and exposure to different genres through displays, book talks, read aloud presentations, and book club membership.
- to support the development of stronger reading skills through collaboration with teachers in reading progress monitoring, modeling reading strategies and continual reading opportunities.

Northridge Middle School students always have access to a wide selection of amazing books from our library, from Sora in Schoology, and from the Los Angeles Public Library’s digital platform which is also in Schoology.
Northridge Middle School library is open for book circulation during morning break, lunch, and after school.
Sora is the app in Schoology where students can borrow digital and audio books and magazines from the Los Angeles Public Library. No library card needed! Follow the directions below to add the Los Angeles Public Library’s digital collection to Sora.
